Sponsoring AI Competition for Experimental Procedure Generation

We are sponsoring the "AI Competition for Experimental Procedure Generation (LA-Bench)" hosted by the Laboratory Automation Association of Japan.

LA-Bench is a benchmark competition aimed at promoting the development of AI technology that converts natural language experimental procedure manuals commonly used by researchers into formats executable by automation systems. This competition addresses important technical challenges in laboratory automation, such as understanding and structuring experimental procedures and converting them into control commands for experimental equipment.

Currently, while automation of experiments is progressing in many research settings, applying experimental procedures written in natural language to automation systems requires manual conversion work, which involves significant effort. By automating this process using AI technology, we expect to reduce the burden on researchers and enable more efficient research activities.

Our company is committed to laboratory automation in an open format to broaden the adoption of lab automation, which we believe creates an environment friendly to generative AI and leads to further advancement of research. Through this competition, we will support the promotion of such technological development.
